Painting Outside the Lines

Ramblings of an accidental, modern-day learn as I go, fell out of living one way; into role of stay at home mom of two!

Painting Outside the Lines

I love up close photography; capturing the closeness and detail of a subject. On this day, I could not resist taking a few 300 shots of all kinds of cuteness… nah, not exactly 300.

This is one of my favorites taken with my Panasonic Lumix:

Camera: GF3
Lens: Mega O.I.S. 45-200
Settings: Aperture, F stop: F/9, Exposure time 1/320 sec.

Edits: I recently started using Serif PhotoPlus starter Edition, after Google shut down their image editing program Picnik. I am fairly inexperience with editing, but I’m learning and I prefer not to manipulate the image so, Serif PhotoPlus works well for me and it’s easy to use.

  • Cropped image slightly at bottom and right side to bring up close.
  • Auto adjusted the brightness.

Watermark:

  • I watermark just about everything I put on the internet, I started using Visual Marks, after a friend, Samuel Michaels Photography recommended the program. It is super easy to use. I designed my mark, added a copyright symbol and saved it for future marks.
  • Next, I can add several images at a time or just one, mark and then save… boom! Done!
  • Visual Marks also gives you an option of adding copyright and photo details within the image, resizing the image, the type of file you want to use and adding a frame.

Copyright:

  • It is free and simple. I use My Free Copyright
Alternate Tags and use Meta Descriptions:
  • Upload image, from the Media Section of your Admin Panel select the image, click edit and enter the Tags and Description.
  • This allows google bots and other bots to easily read your images when they visit your site, which helps when someone enters a search term.
  • Adding these also helps, if the browser someone is using, has slow internet connection or something happens to the image… instead of seeing a blank screen, the person will see a description.

I uploaded both images to the blog post, framed, and before publishing Digiproved using a WordPress plugin. Yes, I do both, I copyright and Digiprove, but of course if it is something that I don’t want to chance… I DO NOT put it on the internet.
